The group, who run a range of trips, lunches, talks and activities as well as fundraising initiatives for local charities, were first formed over two decades ago by Coun Joan Sanger.
“We had a smashing time celebrating our anniversary,” she said.

Joan said that she was delighted that the group was still going from strength to strength after all these years.
“I’m thrilled to bits that they’re still going strong after 20 years,” she said.
“When I first started the group, I felt that there was a really strong need for it. The fact that it’s still going so well just shows that I was right!”

Each year the Group raises funds for a different charity. Last year over £600 was raised for Notts Air Ambulance and £400 for Mercy Ships.
This year their chosen charity is Bassettlaw Hospice.
The Friendship Group meets every fortnight in the Beckingham Recreation Room from 2pm - 4pm, unless otherwise stated, with speakers, outings, a game of bingo and many other activities, plus a good chat over a cup of tea and biscuits.
Anyone wishing to join the Group will be made most welcome.
