County council chairman to lose weight for charity
Coun Keith Walker is appealing for people to sponsor him for every half a stone he loses by the end of his term in office this May.
A healthy-eating plan which restricts his food and drink intake to 1,500 calories per day, exercising on his cross-trainer at home and walking more will be the main ways he sets out to lose the weight.

“I knew I was a bit overweight but it was very sobering to be told that my current weight makes me more at risk of heart disease and diabetes.”
“It’s going to be tough as I get offered lots of cakes and rich food on my engagements but I am determined to reach my goal not only for the sake of my health but also to raise money for my charity.”
He hopes to continue his weight loss once he achieves his initial target of two stone so that he reaches his medically ideal weight.
