Gainsborough: Work to landscape the site of the Old Guildhall to start soon

Work to landscape the Old Guildhall site in Gainsborough will be starting soon.

West Lindsey District Council has commissioned Groundworks Lincolnshire to landscape the former council office known as the Old Guildhall.

The Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government gave the council the go-ahead to demolish the building on Caskgate Street.

It is saving tax payers up to £60,000 a year in business rates and maintenance.

CounJeff Summers, leader of West Lindsey District Council, said: “I am delighted to see work starting this week developing the public green space in the town.”

“We always said that once the Old Guildhall was demolished and the site cleared we would landscape the area, which is what we are doing.”

“However, it is anticipated the area will be redeveloped in the future.”
