Here's why firefighters were at spotted Sleaford's Aldi store on Thursday
The incident, believed to have happened around lunchtime saw bewildered food shoppers herded out of the store and into the car park after it was discovered that carbon dioxide gas was leaking from the system serving the chilled foods section.
The store on Mareham Lane was cleared as a precaution and was closed for the afternoon, with signs and barriers at the entrance, after the fire crew and technicians made sure everything was safe and rectified the fault.
The store was open again by the next day, but not before many customers had been turned away to do their daily or weekly shop elsewhere.
