New sign in Spilsby greets visitors and honours local explorer
The sign, which can be seen on the A16 via Church Street, is constructed in stainless steel and features the ships HMS Erebus and Terror and icebergs.
Sir John Franklin was born in Spilsby on April 16 1786 and is Spilsby’s most noted past resident.

Hide AdAfter the Rotary Club of Spilsby approached Spilsby Town Council with the idea and design of a new sign to welcome visitors to the town, councillors soon gave their unanimous approval.
Rotary member Charles Tong commissioned his local manufacturing company to finalise the design then construct and erect the sign at the agreed site.
Mayor, Coun Terry Taylor commented “The council is grateful for this excellent sign and extend our thanks to the Rotary Club of Spilsby and, of course, to Charles Tong and his manufacturing company for their splendid work,
"I am confident that our Spilsby residents and visitors to the town will appreciate this impressive sign.”
