'˜Picture paints a thousand words': PCSO helps elderly lady who was lost in Skegness
PCSO Dave Bunker was photographed holding the hand of an elderly lady who had lost her way. The image was posted on social media and hailed as the unseen work that officers do every day.
Coast Neighbourhood Inspector Colin Haigh, who took the photo, commented: “Community policing at its best, @PCSO_Bunker helping a lady who’s lost her way and can’t find the bus stop.”

Among the members of the public commenting on the photo was Kier Pritchard, who tweeted: “A picture paints a thousand words. PCSOs are doing this up and down the country. Protecting vulnerable people #priceless.” And Tracy Summerfield tweeted: “This is why I have so much respect and admiration for the Police #everylittlehelps well done.” However, in spite of the fame, it was business as usual for PCSO Bunker as he started his patrol this morning:
He told the Standard: “A lot of PCSOs do this sort of thing every day, all over the country. It’s our bread and butter work.”
Insp Haigh said: “Policing is not just crime fighting and we spend a lot of time protecting the most vulnerable.
“Actions like this are performed by officers every day in Lincolnshire and the rest of the country, they just aren’t captured very often.”
