NK Independents lose a member on NKDC
The council is being forced to review the political balance of all its committees and panels after Lincolnshire Independent councillor Chris Spray announced his resignation last month.
In a report to councillors ahead of their upcoming meeting, it was explained that chief executive Ian Fytche received formal notification that Coun Spray was stepping down with immediate effect on November 12.

Hide AdCoun Spray was one of two new Lincolnshire Independent candidates who deposed long standing Conservative members Pat Woodman and Sue Howe from their Bassingham and Brant Broughton ward seats on the council last year.
The report explains that, due to the current pandemic, a by election to fill this vacant seat cannot be held under current government legislative restrictions until May 6, 2021.
However, local government legislation requires the make up of all committees and panels to represent the strength and balance of political groups on the council, as far as it is reasonably practicable.
The current political composition of the council is:
NK Administration Group (21 members including the former Conservative group)

Ungrouped and unaligned (six members, Councillors Bozena Allan, Steve Clegg, Nikki Dillon, Chris Goldson, Mervyn Head and Cara Sandy are not aligned to any group) Councillors Dillon and Sandy had both previously stepped away from the NK Independents group to sit as unaligned members.
And now there is one vacancy.
The amendments will be discussed and agreed at the full council meeting on Thursday, December 17.
