Retford: Fire at substation causes power cut
Residents of Retford were plunged into darkness last night (Monday) after a fire broke at out an electrical substation and caused a power cut.
Fire crews from Retford were called at 8pm on Monday 16th December to the substation in Lime Grove.
A small fire was caused by a fault on a cable box.
Almost 1,400 houses in Retford lost power at 7.45pm and the majority were restored within the hour.
The last remaining house was restored at 1.20am.
A spokesman from Western Power Distribution said: “We apologise for any disruption and inconvenience this may have caused for customers.”
