Retford: New hip has given Karen a new lease of life
Karen Willcock, 57, from Retford, was in severe pain from arthritis in her hip but was nervous about the idea of hip replacement surgery, and instead took strong anti-inflammatory painkillers.
However, this left her with permanent kidney damage, and still suffering extreme pain.

Hide AdBut it was only after being asked to be referred to Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre that Karen finally underwent hip replacement surgery, which ended five years of agony, and changed her
“Once I was at Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre, I was reassured by the staff about the surgery,” said Karen.
“I was only kept in for about two days, and the day after surgery I was walking on crutches. I couldn’t believe how straight-forward it was. I feel like I have a new lease of life.”
