'˜We got a standing ovation': Dancers from Skegness in celebration for Dame Vera Lynn's 100th birthday
For the past few months Debbie Jenner and Julie Kirk have been rehearsing alongside 70 of Dougie Squire’s ex-Young and Second Generation dancers who took part in the show at the London Palladium on Saturday night.
Debbie , speaking from her home in the Wolds today, said: “The show went really well.

Hide Ad“It was a celebration of her life split into decades. There were many stars there including Alexander Armstrong, Bonnie Langford, Sue Pollard, Bradley Walsh etc.
“Alan Titchmarsh introduced us. It was quite crowded with 75 of us on stage but we had fun and got a standing ovation.
“I had a great view of the Queen during the finale and could see her over Wayne Sleep’s head!
“She was there unofficially to pay tribute to Dame Vera.
“Vera didn’t attend but sent a recorded message.”
Celebrations continue across the country today to mark Dame Vera’s birthday There will be no bluebirds but instead her image will be projected on to the white cliffs of Dover in honour of the 1942 version of the song she made famous.
