"My first season here, losing out in the play-off final. The way we lost as well, I'm still gutted about that.
"And last season as well, we can just write that off.
"I've got unfinished business to do and hopefully we can get this club promoted into the Conference."
Defender Shiels - who was labelled 'outstanding' by manager Craig Elliott - has made 58 appearances for United over two seasons that have both been cut short by Covid-19, scoring seven times.

"I can't wait to get back into action now. I'm glad we've managed to get this sorted for next season," he added.
"I know last season was cut short and we were looking good, but fingers crossed we manage to keep the team together and have a great season next season. I'm over the moon with the deal.
"It has been strange, not knowing what to do with yourself on Saturdays and no training in midweek, but I'm biting at the bit to get back now.

"That's what other clubs will do."
