Tri Club members take on gruelling 70-miler
Holkham Hall’s 70.3-mile event included a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike leg and 13.1-mile run, with more than 1,200 competitors taking part.
The swim was in the lake adjacent to the hall, offering competitive conditions with 300 swimmers setting off at the same time every 15 minutes.

Hide AdThe bike leg started in the grounds of Holkham Hall and then continued through the Norfolk countryside and pretty villages, thankfully in perfect conditions.
After the bike leg it’s back through the grounds of Holkham to transition to swap bike shoes for running shoes. and take on three laps of the hall’s grounds.
This was very challenging with some long hills, uneven farm tracks and woodland paths.
After completing the third lap it was then onto the red carpet to the finish line.

Hide AdFor most of the club members competing it was their first 70.3 triathlon.
Results: Chris Reader 4:44:36, Mark Wheeler 5:22:03, Peter Nicholls 5:38:26, Matt Wain 5:40:12, Lee St Quinton 5:41:41, Michael Irving 6:11:07, Michyla Clark 7:03:58.
The team relay comprising of Russ Parker, Alan Wheeler and Matt Naylor clocked 4:58:08.
