Worksop: Barnett feels new-look Tigers are getting better all the time
Worksop beat Evo-Stik League outfit Sheffield FC 1-0 in their latest home pre-season friendly on Wednesday night with Jake Scott scoring the only goal of the game.
The Tigers were the better side for much of the game.
And Barnett felt the performance by the home side to beat their higher-league opponents, reflected a more measured approach they were looking to adapt, as well as showing that the young squad is growing up quickly.

“We’re a young team and when we needed to, we got rid of the ball instead of taking one or two more passes.”
“That’s what has caught us out in a couple of games in pre-season, just overplaying and being caught out, but we didn’t do that against Sheffield which shows were learning.”
“Last season it was all about goals, getting forward as fast as we could and getting the ball in the opposition box as quickly as possible because we had Dents (Tom Denton) and Metts (Leon Mettam) up front, two out and out strikers, and it showed in the number of goals we scored.”

“I thought it was a very good win because they were a big side with a bit of experience and they pressed us a lot more than Brigg (who are in the same league as Sheffield) did when we played them,”
“We played well against Brigg but they stood off us and let us play a bit whereas against sheffield we got a few kicks.”
“But we kept playing and we looked good.”
“We’re a week out from the start of the season and I think the squad is coming together very well.”
“The manager has been around a while and knows his players, so we’ll be fine.”
