Sleaford Twinning anniversary weekend 9-12 May 2024

2024 marks a special year for Sleaford. It marks the 25th anniversary of the twinning agreement between Sleaford and Marquette-Lez-Lille in France.

It also marks our 15th anniversary of the twinning with Fredersdorf-Vogelsdorf in Germany.

Over the weekend of the 9th-12th May, we will welcome our guests from both towns to Sleaford. The guests will arrive late Thursday afternoon, and will meet their hosts who will look after them for the weekend.

In addition to the twinners, a group of youths from Marquette will also be attending, with activities arranged with St George's Academy.

On Friday, an excursion has been organised for them which will be followed by a tri-lingual service at St Denys Church, starting at 5pm, to which all are welcome.

That evening we will hold a social function to bring all the twinners together with food and drink, with several speeches celebrating the special bond between the three towns.

Saturday will be a day spent with hosts to do whatever the guests want to do in the local area.

Sunday will sadly see farewell to our guests, but not for long. We shall all meet up again in Fredersdorf-Vogelsdorf in July and Marquette-Lez-Lille in October.

It should also be noted, that after a visit by French children from Marquette, to the William Alvey School, a group from the Alvey will visit Marquette in June. The association wishes them a pleasant trip, which will further links with our twin towns.
