TWO years after facing possible closure Barnetby Village Hall is structurally safe and sound at the heart of a thriving community.
Parish Council Chairman Harold Edwards was Chairman of the Management Committee at the time of the crisis but with its fully repaired roof and new toilets with disabled and baby changing facilities, he said, 'The hall should last another 25 years at least'.
"But in the long term more may need to be done structurally."
Heading up the hall committee now is chairman Hugh Westlake, seeking out funding for a heating pump and new kitchen equipment.

Mr Edwards said that the village social scene was thriving not least because the hall was a popular venue for events.
"We as a Parish Council took lots of soundings about how we could improve the village, including affordable housing for young people, attracting businesses and now we hope to set up a village web site. "The hall is so popular with groups who use it that it can be quite difficult to get a booking," he said.
