PUPILS return this week to Brigg's Vale of Ancholme Technology and Music College with a new look and renewed optimism following some of the school's best ever GCSE results.
A new uniform is being worn by pupils, with blazers and clip-on ties making a return.
The school is still celebrating some of its best GCSE results, a pleasing end to headteacher Gail Young's first year.
"We had 61% of students obtaining five G
rade A to C across the board," she said."That is 2 per cent up on 2007 and as we had set our target a little lower this year based on prior attainment, we are more than that up in real terms.
"It was very pleasing to get these results and a reward for the hard work of staff and students."
Beth Wilmot was one high flyer, obtaining nine A* grades and one A grade. Tim Melcalf with four A*, four A's and 2 B's was another outstanding student.
"There were a lot of happy faces and lots of shouts of joy and we can add these results to the pleasing sixth form A levels with all our Vale students obtained their University placements."
Another change taking place is that Steven Morris takes over as Chairman of Governors from Tom Glossop, who steps down to Vice Chair after a long and successful period of office.
* GCSE results at Sir John Nelthorpe School showed a 55 per cent pass rate at A* to C and a 38 per cent rate with the inclusion of Maths and English.
