THE Louth Friends of St. Andrew's Children's Hospice is inviting motorcyclists from all parts of Lincolnshire and beyond to join them for the 2008 Motorbike run and help them set the Wold's ablaze with the sound of throbbing engines.
The 6th Motorbike run organised by the group will take place this Sunday, September 7, and organisers are hoping it will be the biggest and best yet.
Previous runs have attracted between 300 and 400 bikes and organisers hope bikers will support
them again this year and help beat that number this year.
The run will set off from Willingham Woods at 12.15pm and head for the George & Dragon public house at Hagworthingham.
The bikes will leave there at 1.25pm and travel to the Highwayman at Skegness. At 2.15pm the bikes will set off for their final destination, The Royal Oak, known locally as The Splash, at Little Cawthorpe near Louth for a barbecue. There will also be the opportunity to bid on a pair of VIP tickets for a British Superbikes event and win some super prizes in the grand raffle.
The entry fee for the run is £4 per person and bikes may join at the start or at any of the stop off points on the route.
All money raised by the event goes directly to the Hospice, which provides care for children and young adults from across the county who have progressive life limiting illnesses. It currently costs around £1million per year to keep the Hospice open of which only 3% comes from statutory funding. The Hospice provides an invaluable lifeline to the families who use it and events like this are needed to help raise the money needed to keep it going.
