MEMBERS of a Market Rasen slimming club have shown they will go that extra mile for charity.
The group took part in the Pink MIle earlier this year and managed to just break their fundraising target of £1,700 - a pound for each yard in a mile - with a total of £1,779.

The walk took place at Market Rasen Racecourse, with Sean Sparling from Lincs FM leading the 70 walkers around the course and providing the entertainment. There was also a fun dog show on the day organised by Sheena Cook.

When Cancer Research UK representative Simon Moran collected £1,000 of the total, he praised the group for their ‘fantastic’ efforts.

“We are extremely grateful to Weight Watchers Market Rasen Group for doing their PInk MIle and raising £1,000 for Cancer Research UK, which will go towards breast cancer research in the local area”, he said.

He also praised the group, led by Marie Cross, for fulfilling quite a few of the charity’s aims and goals to help reduce the risk of cancer by keeping healthy and watching what they eat.

The group donated a further £370 to the British Heart Foundation, Weight Watchers nominated charity, which was collected by area trainer Debbie Elder.
