AT the August meeting of Market Rasen & District Probus the speaker was Chris Dowse, Estate Manager of Sir Richard Suttons Settled Estates at Hall Farm in Stainton le Vale.
Chris spoke on farming in general following the impetus given to the industry after the war and the second part of his talk covered Sutton Estate in Lincolnshire, its extent and its farming activities.

This most interesting talk was a follow-up to a conducted tour of the Estate by tractor and trailer made by a group of Probus members last summer. Overall the Estate is recognised as a model of farm management with special attention to environmental values.

A hearty vote of thanks was given by a retired farming member after a number of questions, some of which focussed on the subject of GM crops and Prince Charles' recent comment on the subject.

Market Rasen had won both home and away legs of the Club’s annual golf matches against Brigg Probus; a first time double.
