CAISTOR Rovers FC opened there GCDFL Division 5 campaign against local rivals Healing 2nd with a 3-2 win at the Caistor sports ground.
The game opened with Caistor dominating the majority of play. The home side took a deserved lead when a Dave Lynskey free kick was met with a powerful header at the far post by Leigh Wright.

The goal signalled a spell of intense pressure with Caistor failing to convert the many chances and make their advantage pay and Healing equalised shortly before half time with a close range effort, due to Caistor failing to clear the ball.

The second half saw both teams pushing for a second goal with some end to end action when, in an inspired move by manager Darren Gaughan, Caistor replaced both centre forwards in a 10 minute spell, bringing quick rewards with Kev Parker scoring from close range and then Nath Smith scoring a superb goal from 25 yards to give Caistor the lead.

Healing scored a late second, but the result was already Caistor’s.

Caistor Rovers would like to thank referee Ryan O’ Farrow aand expressed special thanks to match sponsors N L Components Ltd & Bass Tyre Services.
