Cricket: CAISTOR Cricket Club 1st team had their best win in the Lincs ECB league for many a while, when they turned the formbook on its head with an eight wicket win over neighbours Grimsby Town at Brigg Road.
The winning margin was comprehensive and set up by some fine bowling in helpful overcast conditions by the home seam trio of Paul Dimbleby, Scott Indian and Aussie Marc Watkins. Indian claimed 4 for 42, Dimbleby 3 for 25 and Watkins 3 for 19.

Grimsby's demolition came in only 39 overs with only Scott Harniss offering much resistance.

When Caistor batted they fought doggedly to reach their target but, as the skies brightened, the wicket became slightly easier and opener Peter Briggs held the innings together with a defiant 31 not out, well supported by Harry Boulton with 25.

It was a win that did Caistor a power of good in their fight against avoiding finishing in the botton two in the league.

* Caistor Town 2nd team in Division 1 saw their game at Barton Town washed out not long after tea, but there was the compensation of a handy nine points for Caistor in their fight against relegation.

* Scores:
Caistor 2nd 141 for nine ( Peter Jacob 44, Lewis Jefferson 35, Foster 6-58) Barton Town 16 for no wicket – abandoned, rain.

* In Division 3 Caistor Town 3rds were hoping for victory in their relegation fight but lost heavily to Broughton 2nds.
Scores:Caistor Town 3rds 110 (R Glentworth 5-35), Broughton 2nds 111 for two.

* Caistor entertained touring side Kimpton on Sunday with the visitors batting first and posting a challenging 172 all out. Caistor had reached 169 for 2 in reply with Harry Boulton top scoring with 86. Fourteen year old Lewis Jefferson made an unbeaten 42 not out.
Technically the game was a draw but Kimpton sportingly conceeded defeat when the rain made further play impossible and waiting for the weather to improve would have served no useful purpose with Caistor needing only 3 more runs with eight wickets in hand.

* Full ECB results:
Lindum 93 (Carter 5-37), Bracebridge Heath 96-2;
Bourne 270-6 (Fotheringham 106no), Messingham 192-9 (Hopkins 5-57);
