MARKET Rasen had a fine win over Alkborough on Saturday with Gary Bierlein again showing just why he is one of the leading bowlers in Division 2.
Rasen look likely to finish mid table in Division 2 and they had a very close encounter with Alkborough 2nd before getting home by a mere 4 runs.

Market Rasen batted first and scored 131 which, with an outfield damp from all the rain during the week, proved just enough. Steve Clay took 5 for 35 for Alkborough 2nds who were all out for 127 in their reply. Star man for Market Rasen was Gary Bierlein whose impressive season continued with 6 for 47.

In the rest of the Lincolnshire Cricket League programme there were mixed fortunes for the local sides.

South Kelsey were at home in Division 1 against Outcasts and still hold an outside chance of promotion after a 66 run win. South Kelsey posted an impressive 178 and Outcasts could only reply with 112.

Hykeham's 187 for six proved too strong for Owmby who could only manage 74 in reply.

In Division 4 South Kelsey 2nds hit 179 for seven (Trevor Potter 63), to beat Hykeham 2nds 148 for seven. Scunthorpe Town 3rds batting first posted 121,with Hibaldstow who have gone off the boil recently, replying with 106 (Pullan 50).
