Thoresby retain the Tompson Cup

NORTH Thoresby retained the Tompson Cup when picking up two points against Alford, losing the match 6 – 2 (57 – 52 aggregate).
Alford shot up to second place in the league, with 76 points to Thoresby’s table-topping 91, this pushed Middle Rasen down to third with 75 after just a week in second place..

For Alford, Peter Birkett, Jim Mears and Reg Savage steamed ahead to wi
n 24 – 14 on their rink, backed up by Kevin Jerromes, Derek Smith and Peter Smedley winning by 5 shots. Louth took on Middle Rasen and won 6 – 2 (59 – 47) with Owen Raybould, George Mason and Jack Sykes playing a good game winning 27 – 10.

North Somercotes ‘A’ were the winners 7 – 1 (52 – 44) against Tealby the best rink being Sheila Dobson, David Harrison and Peter Hill winning 19 – 14.

Charles Street came of best when North Somercotes’B’ were the visitors winning 6 – 2 (57 – 46). Alan Parkin, Mike Norton and Derek Smith were in sizzling form winning 29 – 7.

Eastfield ran out comfortable winners against Wragby 6 – 2 (66 – 51) with Barry Fox, Sue Dawson and Fred King having a scintillating game winning 32 – 12 on their rink.

Previously Middle Rasen ran out easy winners 6 – 2 (63 – 43) over Charles Street to move into second spot with Fran Preston, Paul Culverhouse and Alan Hubbard winning easily 27 – 8.

Susan Heath, Ian Brady and John Spencer had been in devastating form (32-8) as Tealby rolled over Wragby, 5 – 3 (64 – 42).
